Overview
Summary
The series is a sequel to Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission!. It is based upon the original story material that debuted in Dragon Ball Heroes, adapting the Prison Planet and Universal Conflict Sagas.
Timeline placement
For the Dragon Ball Super characters, the events take place after the Universe Survival Saga. For the “Xeno” characters the events occur after the Dark King Mechikabura Saga.
Plot
The plot involves the mysterious Fu, who after kidnapping Future Trunks, lures Goku and Vegeta to the Prison Planet, an experimental area which Fu created and has filled with strong warriors from different planets and eras in order to force them into a game where they must collect the seven Special Dragon Balls if they wish to escape. Future Mai also tags along with them to the Prison Planet and the group is soon confronted by Xeno Goku who Goku battles against.
With Vegeta growing suspicious of Fu, they learn that Fu is responsible for what is going on in the Prison Planet including Trunks’ kidnapping. Fu decides to give Vegeta a Dragon Ball to use as part of his experiment before teleporting away to watch the battles elsewhere. Soon after, Xeno Goku decides to abort his battle with Goku in search for Fu. Later, Goku and Vegeta are confronted by the Evil Saiyan Cumber who eventually battles the two.

They manage to defeat Bojack to gain the Two-Star Special Dragon Ball from him, though Cooler’s alliance with Trunks was due in part to use Trunks as a means to escape the Prison Planet. Oolong is also present in the Prison Planet much to Trunks’ surprise. Trunks and Cooler arrive at the battlefield temporarily and intervene until they are whisked away by Majin Ozotto. There they confront the Ghost Warriors while Majin Ozotto confronts Hatchiyack and reclaims his Dragon Ball before sending Trunks and Cooler back.
Xeno Goku returns along with Xeno Vegeta to assist their counterparts in the battle against Cumber, they transform into Xeno Vegito but Cumbers ever increasing power proves troublesome for them. Goku re-enters the battle in his Perfected Ultra Instinct state while Majin Ozotto, having stolen the remaining Dragon Balls summons Shenron in an an attempt to wish for immortality. Before he can complete his wish, Oolong chimes in, asking for all the prisoners to be released just as Goku and Cumber unleash a powerful blast that destroys the chains keeping the Prison Planet together. Vegeta, Trunks and Mai are returned to Beerus’ Planet only to find that Goku is not there.
From within the very center of the Prison Planet, the Core Area Warriors emerge led by Hearts and also consisting of Fused Zamasu, Rags, Oren, Kamin and Cumber. With a plan to gather energy for the Universe Seed, the group travel first to Universe 6 where they confront the Saiyans, Cabba, Kale and Caulifla as well as Hit. Next they travel to Universe 11 where they confront the Pride Troopers, Top and Dyspo. Here, Goku is revealed to have survived the Prison Planets explosion and joins Vegeta and Trunks in assisting the Pride Troopers in their battle against the Core Area Warriors.
When Hearts heads off separately to Universe 7, Shin takes Goku and Vegeta to chase after him. Meanwhile, Jiren arrives and effortlessly defeats Kamioren, the merged form of Kamin and Oren. Cumber is teleported to an under water cavern where due to his current injuries, he is easily defeated by Fu’s modified Golden Meta-Cooler. Fused Zamasu, having intended to betray Hearts from the start, attempts to steal the Universe Seed for himself but is caught by Rags who encases him in glass which Trunks promptly slices in half.
In Universe 7, Goku and Vegeta, despite being Super Saiyan Blue are defeated by Hearts. Hit and Jiren arrive to help them but with assistance from Rags, Hearts is able to merge with the Universe Seed to greatly increase his abilities. As Piccolo and Android 17 head over to help, they are intercepted by Rags but working together they are able to defeat her. Elsewhere, Goku, Vegeta, Hit and Jiren struggle against the empowered Hearts. Deciding he must wipe out the Earth completely, Hearts begins to use his gravity powers to pull down a huge planetoid in order to destroy the planet. With little other choice, Goku and Vegeta fuse into Gogeta and fire a powerful Kamehameha that obliterates the meteor and strikes Hearts.
As Hearts is engulfed by the blast, he comments that though he finds the brainwashed mortals pitiful, he sought to save them from the tyrannical Gods anyway and genuinely prays they find peace. After defusing, the heroes gather on the battlefield below having successfully saved the day once again. Meanwhile Fu watches the aftermath of the battle saying that it is time for the real test to begin.
