Pokemon Girls Hunter (Video Game) – TV Tropes

Pokemon Girls Hunter is a ROM Hack of Pokémon FireRed. Its main gimmick is that the player is able to capture human girls in modified Poke Balls, effectively making them slaves. Naturally, this means the player can undress them and/or tie them up. It’s that kind of game. Despite the obviously 18+ premise, though, the game takes the use of girls as Pokemon very seriously in gameplay, with them making up a good amount of available party members, and each has their own strengths and weaknesses for a creative Trainer to experiment with.

The game takes place in the Puela region, an archipelago whose population is predominantly female by the will of “The Goddess”, a benevolent figure who watches over the region. However, trouble hits the region when Team Rocket, again reformed out of seemingly nowhere, have been using their new invention: Human Balls, modified Poke Balls that can capture girls, in order to turn them into Sex Slaves for the sake of their own criminal machinations. With seemingly no one around to face them, they’ve basically taken control of the whole region.

This brings you to your character, a young woman named Seda, who is told the situation by her policewoman friend Cassie. She does tell you, though, that she got ahold of Human Balls and that Seda can help her turn the table on them by capturing them and setting their captives free. No, she isn’t constantly thinking about how hot her captive is, why do you ask? Thus begins Seda’s (second) journey across Puela in order to stop Team Rocket and put an end to their schemes. Having a harem of sexy captives… that’s a bonus.

Pokemon Girls Hunter provides examples of

• Alternate Universe: Team Rocket’s managed to crack open a way to another universe, as some of their members come from other worlds, including one where Pokemon have been turned into anthropomorphic females. Cyndy is a version of Cassie from another universe, alternates of Flannery, Cynthia, Dawn, and Rosa serve as Team Rocket’s Elite Four, and Rylia shares the Champion seat with Sharon, an alternate version of Seda herself. An alternate version of Nessa also appears as a Bonus Boss in the post-game. The player never gets to travel to one themselves, however.
• An Arm and a Leg: Doll Island’s entire identity is that it’s a place where people can buy and sell girls with amputated limbs. Some have iron rods attached to their stumps to let them walk, but these are the lucky ones. The Idol Singer Ami, the former government agent Mika, and even Felia, the princess of a fallen region, are among the victims, having their deaths faked so no one would be the wiser.
• And I Must Scream: According to the Pokedex, the Mummy Girls can’t be untied and will be stuck like that forever. Naturally, they can’t be affected by Clothes or Corrodent.
• Badass Normal: Basically any girl you capture becomes one, as they act as a Pokemon while under your control. Each has their own Type and movepool, with access to Pokemon TM and Tutor moves and a few moves unique to girls, and very few of them are truly weak.
• Bare-Fisted Monk: Kaji, the Rust City Gym Leader, specializes in Fighting-Types.
• Big Bad: Rylia, the current leader of Team Rocket, who’s out to enslave every girl in Puela she can for the sake of profit.
• Black Market: They’re dotted all over the region, selling you items related to capturing girls, including Human Balls.
• Blood Knight: Kaji literally only cares about battle, to the point of screaming the word multiple times every sentence. He’s also a Sore Loser who tells you to get out after you beat him.
• Boss Rush: The Pokemon League, as per usual, with the Goddess serving as Champion and her Guardians as the Elite Four. The first time through, the League’s been overtaken by Team Rocket, forcing you through alternate versions of Flannery, Cynthia, Dawn, and Rosa before finally facing Sharon and Rylia back to back with no chance to heal.
• Bound and Gagged: The most common result of a girl being captured, be it by Team Rocket, Seda, or the many Trainers with Human Ball access, is them being tied up naked in rope with a ballgag in their mouth. A girl used as a Pokemon in this form tends to gain stats in ways that make them Special Attacking Mighty Glaciers. The vast majority of girls your opponents throw at you in battle will be in this form.
• Canon Name: There’s no list of preset choices, but the protagonist’s name defaults to Seda if you hit OK on the name entry screen with no name entered.
• Cast Full of Gay: Not only is Puela mostly women, most of those women are lesbians, including Seda and Cassie. The Goddess is no different, which is the reason Puela is mostly women. She even has a brother in another region whose region is mostly boys because he’s gay. This fact only serves to add to Puela’s identity rather than present a lesbian-centric viewpoint, and no one gives the straight characters in the game any grief.
• Cerebus Syndrome: While the concept of an entire region’s female population being targeted for sex slavery is already rather screwed up, it’s at least tempered by the fact that Seda is more than capable of handling Team Rocket. Once you hit Rust City, Team Rocket’s operations become clearer as to how messed up they are, with none of it sugarcoated. The story never gets completely bleak, but it doesn’t get much happier from there despite any sex the characters have. And the Evil Islands in the post-game are worse…
• Combat Pragmatist: Boris, the Champagne City Gym Leader, specializes in Dark-Types.
• Confusion Fu: Cyndy, after becoming the new Pale City Gym Leader, uses a team with no Type specialty.
• Corrupt Politician: Oh hell yes. Puela actually has a shown government, and clearly some palms have been greased to allow Human Balls to be created, let alone everything that the Evil Islands are allowed to get away with. Or so it seems. The government’s hands are actually completely tied: Not only do Team Rocket have the Goddess as a captive, but an unnamed Rocket Admin has the governor under her control by threatening the safety of the governor’s sister. Once they’re cleared out, the governor actually goes back to doing her job properly (though Human Balls remain legal for now).
• Crapsaccharine World: On its own, Puela might genuinely be an idyllic archipelago region that averts any of the issues of an overwhelmingly female population, but the minute Team Rocket showed up, things clearly went to hell. They effectively have the whole region under their control, having captured several important people in the region including multiple Gym Leaders, leaving them able to traffic in enslaved girls with almost no resistance while most of the region lives in fear. Neither the Puela Government nor the Goddess herself seem to be doing anything about it. If that wasn’t bad enough, the invention of Human Balls gave the predominantly female populace, who were already perverts beforehand, the chance to be criminals and capture any girls that take their fancy, meaning this was already in effect on some level from the start. Even the Guardians, the Goddess’s tribe of supporters, sold her out to Team Rocket for the sake of having more sex with her, which is how this whole mess got started. And this doesn’t even take the Evil Islands into account…
• Cute Monster Girl: Several anthropomorphic Pokemon girls are available for capture. Some are part of Team Rocket, while others are simple BonusBosses. Wynar’s Gagged form imitates this trope with a fake tail. Prinste, the master of Chelle Tower, has three different Slime Girls on her team. If you beat her (which isn’t easy as her team is in the 90s), you will receive one yourself with a random color and hairstyle, though there are no gameplay differences between any of them.
• Defeat Equals Friendship: Or rather Defeat Equals Servitude, as capturing girls usually requires you to defeat them in a Pokemon battle first.
• Dirty Old Man: Surprisingly rare in this game, as most old men that are even in Puela are of a decent sort. Rylia’s dad, however, is a supremely malicious example, as he uses an old man sprite yet is still the same rapist and criminal he was when Rylia was a kid.
• Dragon Their Feet: A lone Team Rocket Admin without a name continues keeping the governor doing what she wants long after you capture Rylia and dismantle Team Rocket’s operations.
• 11th-Hour Ranger: Cassie makes you capture her and add her to your party right before you challenge the Elite Four. She comes with a high enough Level so she doesn’t end up as dead weight.
• Eroge: As much as can be done within the Gen 3 Pokemon engine, which mostly amounts to pornographic sprites and sex scenes being communicated through text. The title screen has lewd imagery, which is why this article has no picture.
• Extra-ore-dinary: Wynar, the Cinerous City Gym Leader, specializes in Steel-Types.
• Everyone Has Lots of Sex: To say Puela’s full of perverts, Seda and Cassie included, is an understatement. The female Gym Leaders are mentioned by the townsfolk as being super kinky and wanting to be captured. One NPC outright says that most of the girls in the region were perverts before Team Rocket ever showed up.
• Fair Cop: Cassie.
• Faking the Dead: Every girl that ended up on Doll Island had fake death certificates made by the Rocket-controlled government, covering up the fact that they were sold to Doll Master and turned into his amputated playthings.
• Foreshadowing: During one of the scenes between Seda and Cassie, Seda is shown in a Gagged form despite the player having no way to change her appearance. Come the end of the game, you encounter Seda’s Alternate Self Sharon, who can be put into this form.
• Freudian Excuse: To put it mildly, Rylia’s life sucked. Her father was abusive, heartless, and a known criminal, having kidnapped and held a girl hostage (which eventually resulted in her death) and also having tried to rape Ezale. Even though Rylia got him sent to jail, because she was associated with him, everyone in Puela only knew her as the daughter of a monster. No wonder she became evil. She doesn’t use it as an excuse, however, and is under no illusion that she could ever be good. Seda thinks otherwise, and her actions in the post-game show that in her own way, she is capable of being good.
• Friendly Rivalry: Seda and Cassie had this during their original journey, and Cassie acts as your rival in-game to make sure you’re strong enough to keep going.
• The Ghost: Similar to Giovanni, the Pale City Gym Leader isn’t in her Gym when you first arrive, the girl outside telling you she got kidnapped by Team Rocket. Despite raiding countless Team Rocket bases, the Pale Gym Leader isn’t in any of them, so you never see her or even learn her name. You finally find her on Nest Island in the post-game, but she’s been so mentally broken down into little more than a prostitute that she doesn’t even remember her own name.
• Good People Have Good Sex: When Seda and Cassie actually have sex later in the game, it’s rough and kinky but very loving.
• Happiness in Slavery: Seda takes incredibly good care of her girls, and it’s earned her genuine loyalty from them. Even the Rocket Admins come to share this sentiment, with some admitting that being her girl is a vastly better life than the one they previously had.
• Haunted House: There’s one on Route x8 on the way to Rust City as an optional dungeon. Beyond the standard Ghost-Type Pokemon, it’s also haunted by the ghost of a human girl who was kidnapped by Rylia’s father and held there against her will, having been raped and trained by the man. When he eventually vanished and never came back because he was sent to prison, the girl couldn’t bring herself to leave and eventually died. Seda can find her in the basement, having captured a living girl herself so she wouldn’t be alone. Defeating the ghost girl in battle brings her a bit of ease, and she will join Seda’s team.
• Heroic Mime: Averted. Seda gets plenty of dialogue throughout the game.
• Horny Devils: Norma gets corrupted into one after the rest of the Guardians get ahold of her after her defection, turning her into a blue-skinned demon creature so obsessed with sex that she can’t even think properly unless she’s literally screwed into submission.
• Hot Goddess: The Goddess is a very beautiful white-haired woman with skimpy clothing and a pair of feathery wings on her back.
• Identical Stranger: Cyndy, a strange girl that Seda notes looks exactly like Cassie, even though she can tell a difference. That’s because she is Cassie, from another universe.
• I’m a Humanitarian: The entire reason Meat Island in the post-game is called this. Girls are abducted and have their bodies modified to be slaughtered and turned into food, though none of this process is ever shown to the player. Seda and her girls interrupt an auction for one such girl and defeat every single patron there, putting an end to the island’s operations.
• Intimate Marks: Quinn’s body is loaded with tattoos, including around her nether regions.
• I Owe You My Life: Rocket Admin Ezale was saved from a rapist by Rylia, so she follows her out of genuine loyalty. Said rapist was Rylia’s father. Given she’s one of your enemies, you can capture her and transfer her loyalty to Seda though she’ll still try to convince Rylia to leave Team Rocket, believing being Seda’s girl will be a much better life.
• Jaded Washout: Sort of. Seda once tried to go on a Pokemon journey, but she apparently got tired of it and just went home. The Human Ball incident forced her on another one.
• Lady Land: As per the Goddess’s will, Puela’s population is primarily women, and thus women have the majority of important positions. Even Team Rocket is entirely female, with no male antagonists to be seen until the post-game. Unlike most examples, men aren’t treated unfairly in any way, as some hold important jobs, including three of the Gym Leaders (though one was a stand-in for a woman).
• Laughing Mad: Sharon, after you defeat her. It doesn’t stop even during her brief appearances in the post-game, requiring her to be gagged.
• Long-Lived: Due to the Goddess’s power, the Guardians are given massively extended lifespans in order to even remotely keep up with the obviously immortal Guardians. It extends to any Pokemon and girls they have in their party as well. Seda and her party gain this during the post-game after she gains the Goddess’s permission to capture her, effectively making her a Guardian.
• Magic Knight: The Guardians, Norma included, are blessed with incredible power by the Goddess, giving them both the ability to willingly act as a Pokemon in battle and access to multiple useful Special attacks on top of any Physical attacks one would expect from a human. Fittingly, they are treated as Psychic/Fighting-Type Pokemon when they do this.
• Magikarp Power: Every girl you capture, with few exceptions, becomes Level 1 when added to your party, with fittingly low stats and almost identical movesets to each other, making it difficult for them to find use. However, they have among the highest stat growths in the game and have multiple forms that can specialize them in whatever stats the player wants, easily able to outclass many actual Pokemon at higher Levels.
• Mirror Boss: Downplayed with Sharon, Seda’s other self. While she doesn’t use all the same Pokemon and girls as the player, she does use a Weavile, the evolved form of Seda’s starter, Sneasel.
• Mook Chivalry: Not only does the standard example of Rocket Grunts never attacking you in groups apply, but the Prison City Gym Trainers operate under the same “no capturing girls” rule as every other Gym, even though the entire city is run by Team Rocket.
• Mr. Vice Guy: Seda and Cassie, full stop. Both are strong-willed girls with good heads on their shoulders, but they’re also both complete perverts.
• Multiform Balance: The majority of captureable girls come in three forms: Clothed, Naked, and Gagged, treated as item evolutions when a Clothes, Corrodent, or Ballgag & Rope item, respectively, is used on them. Each form tends to specialize in different stats: Clothed girls tend to balance their stats, Naked girls tend to forego Defenses for Physical Attack and Speed, Gagged girls tend to forego Speed for Special Attack and Defenses.
• No Name Given:
  • The generic captureable girls in the game are all called “[Trainer Class] Girl” rather than by any names. Their Trainer class functions as their name while being used in battle.
  • The Goddess that everyone worships is never named. Even when you meet her in person, she’s only ever called “Goddess”.
  • Since the Gym Leader’s names aren’t on the signs outside the Gym and no one mentions it, you don’t get to know the missing Pale City Gym Leader’s name. She doesn’t even remember her name when you find her on Nest Island due to all the abuse she suffered, as she only responds to “Slut.”
  • The Rocket Admin who blackmailed the government into ignoring what goes on in the Evil Islands is only referred to as “???,” as she’s wearing a hood. Rylia’s father isn’t named, either, only showing up as “Rylia’s Dad” in battle.
  • Later on, you can encounter the Rocket Admin again after she got captured by the law enforcement. Her real name is Dredar.
• Non-Elemental: John, the (interim) Khaki City Gym Leader, specializes in Normal-Types.
• The Oldest Profession: Largely averted. It’s alluded to in some girls’ Pokedex entries, but for the most part, there doesn’t seem to actually be a big prostitution business in Puela, likely because most people are women. Nest Island has a brothel, but it’s more of a torture facility to break women’s wills so they’ll have no choice but to do this for Golan, the island’s master.
• One-Hit-Point Wonder: Mummy Girls have only 1 HP and Wonder Guard, exactly like Shedinja.
• Outside-Context Problem: Fitting its name, Prison City’s Mummy Tower is run by a wild Cofagrigus that turns any girl it gets its hands on into mummies, including several Team Rocket Grunts, so even they avoid the place. The only reason you run into it is because one of its victims has the key to the Prison City Gym.
• Pay Evil unto Evil: The logic used by Cassie to state why she (and later you) turn Team Rocket members into slaves: Because they were criminals who did the same to innocent girls. This is even a provision of Puela law in regards to Human Ball use as a whole: If a girl attempts to capture you, you have free reign to capture them as it is considered self-defense, but you’re breaking the law if you’re the aggressor. Golan, Doll Master, several people on Meat Island, and Rylia’s father are all killed by Rylia and Cassie in the post-game under this logic, as all of them were heartless people who would never willingly stop their actions.
• Permanently Missable Content: Averted. Unique Trainers that you were given the option to capture but didn’t (or couldn’t if your PC was full) will show up at the Dungeon south of Lakeside Town to give you another chance.
• Poisonous Person: Quinn, the Azure City Gym Leader, specializes in Poison-Types.
• Porn with Plot: While the obvious draw is the ability to use naked and bound girls as Pokemon, almost everyone in the region’s a pervert, and there are a few text-based sex scenes, the game doesn’t just leave you with this and actually has a coherent plot with a few twists.
• Sex Slave: Team Rocket’s MO this time around: Use the Human Balls they invented to capture and enslave as many girls in Puela as possible. The Evil Islands also do this, but with even worse methods.
• Shock and Awe: Bethea, the Prison City Gym Leader and Team Rocket Admin, specializes in Electric-Types.
• Starter Mon: Seda’s first Pokemon is Sneasel. As for girls, Rocket Admin Tenia is the first girl she gets to capture.
• Underground Monkey: Many Trainer classes have multiple designs taken from different games in the series. When used as Pokemon, the different designs are usually identified by the region they come from (i.e. the Pokemon Ranger from Unova is labeled “Ranger-U”), and each design has a different Type and movepool from those of the same class in other regions. For example, the aforementioned Pokemon Ranger from Unova is considered Rock-Type, but the Pokemon Ranger from Kanto is considered Fire-Type.
